Exhibiting Artists Statements

Helen Mould, BA (Hons) MA

I am an artist and arts consultant to business and private clients.

I have studied philosophy and fine art in depth and now paint in a stream of consciousness fashion. I owned and ran my own gallery for seven years but now operate from my studio in my garden and display paintings at The Cresset North Walk Cafe and the Botolph Green Medical Centre.

My first solo exhibition was in 1996 and since that time my work has found more than 70 enthusiastic collectors.

I create multi layered paintings in style and meaning that satisfy the viewer with a decorative appeal but equally satisfy my artist creator instincts.

I oscillate between the Abstract Expressionist obsession with the sole, two dimensionality of the surface and the Theosophist need to find a soul and communicate something deep, mystical and meaningful through the painting.

The experimentation, variety, spontaneity or out- pourings of current thoughts, influences and travels onto the painted surface satisfies some need in me whilst at the same time producing an image the viewer can find some form of identity in.

The viewer completes the painting in the very personal nature of their mind and heart and we are all satisfied.

Mike Scott
Mike Scott studied at Leicester College of Art in the 1960s. He became Art Teacher at the County Grammar School until retirement.

In the past Mike has taken inspiration from the artists John Piper and has painted a variety of subjects in a wide range of media, and mainly concentrated on architectural themes. He has painted and illustrated many churches, colleges, and other historical buildings, in which he took a particular interest not only in the construction but the character, atmosphere and sense of history of the subject. Mike moved to Norfolk adn worked in pastel and strong water colours, creating Norfolk coastal scenes but many of them include architectural elements.

Mike held regular life drawing sessions at his house for more than 20 years.
